Specialists in wood roof trusses, floor joist, prefab wall panels, and engineered products for residential, commercial, and agriculture construction projects, Island Structural Systems Inc. is looking for a dynamic person to fill the position of Wall Panel Designer .
Roles and Responsibilities:
Design prefab wall panels and spec engineered wood products using specialized software for residential, commercial, and agriculture projects based on customer plans and needs
Prepare the various documents to be given to the client (estimates, technical drawings, layouts)
Work in collaboration with other professionals in the team
Accepts other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Experience in design software or a diploma / certificate in Architectural, Civil, or Construction Technology or related field
Strong skills in computer aided drafting such as AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or similar
Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings is required
Familiarity with the National Building Code and Engineered Wood Products
Strong general computer skills required and proficient in Microsoft programs
Ability to work steadily in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and meet deadlines
Ability to work in a team environment
Safety mindset, follows procedures and demonstrates safe work behaviors
Organized and pays high attention to detail
Positive attitude and communication with colleagues, customers, and suppliers
Punctual, reliable, determined, and willing to learn
Experience working on a construction job site and / or knowledge of the construction process of a home / building is considered an asset
