IGP is building the UK's leading solar and battery storage NSIP portfolio and we need a Head of Construction to lead the delivery of it. This is a senior leadership role with real scope and real consequence. You'll own construction delivery across a portfolio of nationally significant infrastructure projects, from FID through to COD, while also shaping how pre-construction phases are structured and executed. You'll report directly to the COO, manage Project Directors and their teams, and be a key voice in how the company's construction capability is built for the long term.

If you're an experienced construction leader looking for a role where your decisions genuinely matter, and where you can help define what best-in-class looks like for UK renewable energy delivery, this is it.

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT

  • Shape a market-leading construction function from the ground up – this is a genuinely formative leadership opportunity
  • NSIP-scale portfolio: complex, high-value, nationally significant projects that demand the best
  • Direct line to the COO and visibility at the most senior levels of the organisation
  • Lead and develop Project Directors and their teams – real people leadership with lasting impact
  • Influence both pre-construction and construction phases across the full portfolio
  • A company that is genuinely committed to doing this well – the investment in talent and process reflects that

WHAT YOU'LL BE LEADING

You'll have end-to-end accountability for construction delivery across the IGP portfolio, spanning both the pre-construction and construction phases:

Construction Phase

  • Own cost, programme, quality, and HSE performance across all projects, reporting to the COO
  • Build, lead, and continuously improve the company's construction management system, execution strategy, and contractor management framework
  • Drive KPI reporting to the COO, SLT, and project funders
  • Ensure compliance with H&S regulations, DCO requirements, and real estate agreements
  • Provide high-visibility on-site leadership across the portfolio – supporting Project Directors, strengthening contractor relationships, and holding the line on safety and quality
  • Lead contract claims and settlement negotiations where required

Pre-construction Phase

  • Lead project management from Ready-to-Build through to Notice to Proceed
  • Interface across commercial, development, grid, engineering, procurement, and asset management to drive gating milestones
  • Drive contractor selection, procurement strategy, and contract negotiation
  • Ensure all projects are bankable and that due diligence requirements are met

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 10+ years' experience in large-scale infrastructure or energy construction in the UK – solar PV, BESS, or transmission experience is essential
  • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing Tier 1 contractors from RTB/NTP through to COD
  • Strong command of EPC and multi-package contracting models; deep knowledge of NEC/FIDIC contract forms, interface management, and claims
  • Experience in project finance environments including lender reporting and LTA interfaces
  • A natural leader who builds culture, develops talent, and holds high standards without losing the ability to collaborate
  • Project Management qualifications and the credibility to implement process-driven systems across a large team
  • NGET experience is highly desirable
