Island Green Power (IGP) is a UK renewable energy company developing utility-scale solar PV and battery storage projects. Our first major project is moving through construction and financing, and we’re looking for a Commercial Asset Management Associate to join the team at a pivotal point.
About the role
For the first two years, you’ll be embedded in the delivery of our first projects, managing the commercial and project finance coordination of construction projects whilst also supporting the structuring of the operational phase contracting. During the construction phase you’ll be the interface between the project team, IGP Finance and our project finance lenders, making sure information, approvals, reports and financing obligations are managed accurately and on time. IGP Finance will continue to run core accounting, tax, treasury and payments. Your role is to coordinate the project inputs, maintain the financing and commercial controls, challenge performance and turn project activity into clear reporting. As the project moves into operations and our portfolio grows, the role will broaden into a portfolio Commercial Asset Management position covering projects in construction and operating assets, with increasing ownership of revenue, contracts, budgets and commercial performance.
What you’ll do
- In the first phase (construction, project finance and loan management):
- Coordinate lender reporting, drawdowns and loan administration, including progress, cost, contingency and forecasts
- Maintain the financing obligations register, covenant and compliance tracker and reporting calendar
- Work with IGP Finance and the Project team on cash forecasting, interest, repayments, distributions and compliance certificates
- Monitor the construction budget, cost-to-complete and funding headroom, and elevate emerging overruns early
- Support the project financial model with actuals, commitments, programme assumptions and forecasts
- Support the Project Director to prepare consistent reporting for IGP management, the project board, shareholders and lenders
- Coordinate responses to lender queries, technical adviser findings, consent requests and claims
- Help prepare the contracts, reporting and governance needed for handover to operations
- As the portfolio develops (commercial asset management):
- Take increasing ownership of the commercial management of operating solar PV, BESS and associated infrastructure
- Help shape IGP’s Commercial Asset Management framework, processes and reporting standards
- Lead commercial relationships with offtakers, route-to-market providers, O&M contractors and insurers
- Own day-to-day revenue administration, including production and price reconciliation and invoicing inputs
- Manage operating budgets and cash-flow forecasts, explain variances and act to protect asset value
- Drive continuous improvement through Power BI, workflow automation and AI-enabled tools
About you
- Around five years of post-graduate experience in project finance, infrastructure investment, commercial management, asset management, project controls or a related field
- Practical exposure to a project during construction, ideally in renewables, power, utilities or other capital-intensive infrastructure
- Experience of, or strong familiarity with, project finance facilities, lender reporting, drawdowns, covenants and financial models
- Financially literate, comfortable with budgets, forecasts and cash flows, without needing to be a qualified accountant
- Able to turn complex project, contractual and financial information into concise, decision-focused reporting
- Highly organised, with the discipline to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Credible and confident engaging project teams, senior management, shareholders, lenders and advisers
- Strong Excel and presentation skills; Power BI, workflow automation or AI-enabled working a plus
- A degree or professional qualification in finance, economics, business, engineering, construction or a related discipline is desirable
- A clear runway to grow into and shape a broader Commercial Asset Management role as our portfolio moves from construction into operations
- Direct exposure to project finance, construction delivery, lender management and operational asset management
- The chance to work alongside experienced project, finance, commercial and technical teams
- Meaningful responsibility and visibility from the outset in a growing renewable energy business
- The opportunity to design the systems, reporting and standards that will underpin commercial asset management across the portfolio
