Islamic Cultural Luton Central Mosque is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Specialist Qāri’ to supplement and enhance the mosque’s existing educational provision. The successful candidate will play a key role in upskilling current mosque staff and delivering advanced Qur’anic sciences to the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist Qirā’āt training to existing mosque staff.
  • Teach classical Tajwīd courses requiring formal Ijāzah.
  • Teach Arabic Language.
  • Teach and supervise students in the Ten Qirā’āt.
  • Deliver Maqāmāt courses.
  • Support the mosque’s educational objectives.
  • Maintain high professional and safeguarding standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Adherence to Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamā‘ah (Ash‘arī or Māturīdī creed).
  • Follows one of the four Sunni schools of Fiqh.
  • Ḥāfiẓ al-Qur’ān with reputable Ijāzah.
  • Ijāzah in and authorisation to teach the Ten Qirā’āt.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching Qirā’āt.
  • Fluency in Arabic.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working with an NGO or community organisation.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the organisation reserves the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable candidate is appointed. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview. The successful candidate is expected to commence shortly after Ramadan.
