Fully Remote
Up to £70,000
Every now and then, I work with a company that makes me stop and think, “This actually matters.” This isn’t another SaaS platform trying to shave 2% off someone’s ad spend. The team I’m partnering with is building connected devices that help businesses protect and support their teams in challenging, high-risk environments, technology that turns real-time data into actionable insights, helping prevent accidents before they happen.
They’ve already proven the concept. Now they’re growing and they need a Lead Engineer to help build what comes next!
The Story So Far
They’re a small, ambitious team working across hardware, software, and AI. Their devices feed live data into dashboards used by managers and field teams, giving organisations visibility into workplace safety and team wellbeing. Everyone still codes, and ideas move from whiteboard to prototype to customer quickly. It’s an environment for builders, people who like to see the impact of their work in the real world.
Where You Come In
They’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the tech stack end-to-end. You’ll be designing architecture one day, and deep in TypeScript code the next. You’ll also coordinate with overseas manufacturing partners to make sure firmware and production run smoothly, and work closely with the founders to make strategic technical decisions, integrate AI features, and plan for growth. This role is a mix of planning, building, and will have the opportunity to lead further down the line. It’s ideal for someone who likes hands-on work as much as thinking big.
The Toolkit
- Modern TypeScript stack across backend, web, and mobile
- Real-time data pipelines for device integration
- Web and mobile frameworks for dashboards and apps
- Relational databases with schema management
- Deployment, CI/CD, and observability tooling
- AI integration for insights and reporting
What They’re Looking For
- Strong coding experience in TypeScript, Node.js, and React
- Experience leading projects or small teams
- Comfortable working across backend, frontend, and hardware discussions
- Balances strategic thinking with hands-on building
- Curious about IoT or connected devices (experience is a bonus, but mindset matters more)
Why This Role Stands Out
When I met the founders, what struck me wasn’t just the technology, it was their focus. They care deeply about building something that makes a difference, but they’re pragmatic, fast-moving, and empower their team to own their work. This is the kind of role where you can genuinely shape the technical direction, write meaningful code, and see your work used in the real world. You’ll be part of a company at an inflection point, small enough to have impact, big enough to scale!
If this sounds like your kind of challenge, I’d love to tell you more!
