Cloud Consultant

Full-Time Remote

£45,000–£68,000 | Fully Remote (UK) | Microsoft Cloud & Infrastructure

Some people enjoy having a clearly defined role, a steady queue of tickets and a team around them to escal problems to.

Others enjoy a bit more variety. They like figuring things out, taking responsibility, and being the person customers know they can rely on.

If you're in the second camp, BN-IS could be a really interesting next move!

They're a small, established IT consultancy supporting businesses across their Microsoft cloud, infrastructure and security environments.

They're looking for one, potentially two, people to join their team. Whether you're an experienced infrastructure engineer ready to step into a more consultative role, an internal IT Manager looking for greater variety, or an established consultant wanting more ownership, they're open to different backgrounds.

What matters most is your technical ability, how you approach problems and how you work with people.

What's different about this opportunity?

BN-IS isn't a large MSP where you're one of dozens of engineers working through a queue.

It's a small team where everyone gets involved, from everyday support requests through to more complex infrastructure challenges and cloud projects.

You’ll work directly with experienced senior consultants, build relationships with customers and have a genuine say in how problems are approached and solved.

There's plenty of variety, and you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills across different technologies and client environments.

It's also a business where your contribution is noticed. Good ideas don't need to travel through five layers of management, and taking ownership can make a real difference.

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities will depend on your experience, but will include:

  • Supporting and managing Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID and Intune environments.
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure, networking and security issues.
  • Working directly with customers to understand their challenges and find practical solutions.
  • Delivering cloud, infrastructure and security improvements.
  • Taking ownership of issues, keeping customers informed and seeing things through.

At Senior level, you’ll take greater ownership of complex technical work, client relationships and project delivery, while helping support less experienced colleagues.

What are we looking for?

You’ll need a solid background in Microsoft infrastructure, whether that’s from an MSP, consultancy or internal IT environment.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune.
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure, particularly for more senior candidates.
  • A good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VPNs and firewalls.
  • Confidence troubleshooting problems and working across different technologies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues without unnecessary jargon.
  • A willingness to take responsibility, learn and get involved wherever needed.

You don’t need to know everything. At Senior level, you might be particularly strong in Microsoft 365 or Azure rather than both. What matters is having a good technical foundation and the confidence to work through unfamiliar challenges.

A little more about the environment

It’s worth being upfront: this is a busy, varied role.

Some days you’ll be working on an interesting cloud project. Other days, a customer might need help with something relatively straightforward but equally important to them.

You’ll need to be comfortable switching priorities, dealing directly with customers and knowing when to ask for support.

If you’re looking for a role where you can focus exclusively on project work, this probably won’t be the right fit.

But if you enjoy variety, like taking ownership and want to be part of a team where your work has a visible impact, there’s a lot to like.

What's on offer?

  • £45,000–£50,000 at Consultant level.
  • £60,000–£68,000 at Senior Consultant level.
  • Fully remote working, with occasional client site visits.
  • Flexible, outcome‑focused working environment.
  • Direct access to experienced technical leaders.
  • Exposure to a broad range of Microsoft cloud and infrastructure technologies.
  • Support for professional certifications, including funded exam fees.
  • Opportunities to develop towards Senior and Principal Consultant levels.

There’s no formal on‑call rota, although some flexibility is needed for occasional planned out‑of‑hours work, such as infrastructure migrations.

Interested?

You don’t need to have ‘Consultant’ in your current job title.

If you’re a Microsoft Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, IT Manager, Cloud Engineer or already working in consultancy, we’d be interested in hearing from you.

We’re particularly keen to speak with people who enjoy the technical side of IT but also understand that delivering a great service is about more than simply fixing the problem.

If that sounds like you, get in touch for an informal conversation.
