Origen Carbon is building zero-emission lime, and using it as the foundation for large-scale carbon removal. Our oxy-fuel kiln technology has been proven at large-scale demonstration, achieving over 99% calcination extent and 97% uptime. We're well funded, backed by a $13m Series A led by Barclays Climate Ventures. Getting to our first commercial-scale lime plant means building a genuinely profitable lime business first, with carbon removals as the long-term platform built on top of it. We've retained ISL Talent to help us hire a key role of Process Development Lead. As we move from demonstration toward commercial deployment, we need a Process Development Lead to own the process questions that will define our future plants: how we fire and power them, how they scale, how they perform. Process development does not have a home yet, and you would be the one to create it, working closely with our VP Technology and Design Engineering Manager. Assess process concepts coming out of R&D for industrial scale-up potential: technical feasibility, cost impact, operational robustness Translate scientific findings into engineering-ready process requirements, and feed design constraints back into R&D Lead feasibility and trade-off analysis for major process changes, such as how we fire or power our plants Report progress and risks to our VP Technology, and contribute technical input for investor and strategic discussions Genuine process engineering experience in an industrial, capital-intensive setting, not lab-scale only Comfortable working on longer-term questions without a fixed deadline, alongside people whose work does have one Also useful: background in lime, cement, minerals processing or another high-temperature industrial process, and any experience with CFD, kiln systems or flowsheet modelling. You'd rather stay deep in one technical area than range across process, design and commercial questions You're not comfortable being the one building relationships with external suppliers and partners Compensation and benefits £75,000-£85,000, depending on experience. ~ Unlimited annual leave (we guide around 35 days; 20 days paid sick leave after a 3-month probation, pro rata in year one ~ Enhanced parental leave: 12 weeks full pay maternity, 6 weeks full pay paternity/other parental leave ~£500 annual wellbeing bonus, paid every January ~ Pension via salary sacrifice ~ Employee Assistance Programme via Bupa ~ Salary sacrifice schemes: cycle to work, home and tech, electric car Primarily based in our Bristol office, in practice around three to four days a week, with flexibility on hours.
