We advise on everything from helping trustees and sponsors to manage their defined benefit plans, running large scale communications projects and implementing alternative reward and pension provision. The range of work we get involved with is vast and there’ll be opportunities for you to gain lots of great, new experiences, focus on working towards specialising in particular roles and put your skills to the test.

What does the role entail?

We’re looking for experienced actuarial students with relevant UK DB Pensions industry experience to join our team. As a challenger in the industry, we are looking for individuals with excellent pensions consulting and technical skills, a commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Day to day, you will be:

  • Playing a key role in the delivery of UK DB Pensions advice to clients – this may include managing key client projects directly, and/or supporting our partners and directors to deliver to our clients.
  • Being involved in the technical aspects of projects, working with and building relationships with clients directly, working as part of a team and developing those around you.
  • Assisting in the development of new business, both with existing and new clients.

As an Assistant Manager, you will lead the advancement of these typical projects while supporting junior colleagues within the same team:

  • Performing actuarial valuations and calculations for Trustees and advising them on how to run their schemes.
  • Developing pensions strategies for corporate, public and not for profit organisations.
  • Writing and delivering communications projects for members.
  • Insurance transaction and scheme consolidation advice.
  • Data projects such as benefit rectifications, pensions dashboards and GMP equalisation.

Whatever you’re looking for, we can build a role to suit you and help you develop.

Where is the role?

We can offer a range of locations for you to choose from – we have Isio offices in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Reading. We work on a hybrid basis, offering the opportunity for colleagues to split their working time between working in the office and at home. As a business we are great at building strong communities amongst our employees – both across locations and teams, hosting regular team building, charity, and social events.

What we're looking for:

We’re looking for new colleagues with the following skills and expertise – but, please do apply if you don’t hit every requirement and still think you would be great for the role. Our business is better with a diverse range of experience, so we’ll consider each application on its own merits.

  • A great communicator – someone who can explain complex problems in a simple way to help everyone around the table understand.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation - a great deal of desire to solving problems and delivering excellent advice.
  • Excellent project management and client delivery skills – especially when balancing multiple demands.
  • A great team worker – this will be as part of client project teams, in-office teams and by supporting the development of others.
  • Commercial skills – a curious mind, to help us develop our business and look for new opportunities.
  • Technical experience – experience of working in the UK DB pensions industry or individuals with relevant transferable actuarial skills.

Qualifications – likely to be closing in on an actuarial qualification, FIA/FFA or equivalent. We also value relevant actuarial experience gained via an Apprenticeship, Internship or Industrial placement programme as beneficial, in addition to the qualifications mentioned.
