We are growing and we want you to be part of our journey. This role will assist in managing the daily HR operations of the company. You will be responsible for managing HR processes, absence management, general HR queries, HR systems and people administration. You will collaborate with the HR Managers to resolve employee relations issues, with the expectations of managing a portfolio of ER cases. You will create and implement HR policies and procedures. Additionally, you will provide support and coaching to more junior members of the HR Services team, including the HR Assistant and HR Administrator, ensuring all HR queries are responded to in a timely and accurate manner. This is an HR generalist role, and you will be expected to deputise for the HR Managers, pro-actively supporting and advising Performance Managers and employees across the Isio Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR and a passion for creating a positive workplace culture. This is a hybrid role and can be based in either our Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester or Belfast office.
Role and Responsibilities
- HR Processes: Manage HR processes in accordance with Isio HR policies and procedures and best practice, including but not limited to right to work compliance, Maternity, Paternity, Shared Parental Leave, flexible working, career break and CSR. Ensure compliance with employment law and flag any risks to the relevant HR Manager.
- Employee Relations (ER) Case Management: Support the HR Managers to investigate and resolve ER issues, managing a portfolio of cases as appropriate, including but not limited to performance management, grievance, and disciplinary cases. Ensure necessary documentation is accurate and produced in a timely manner, and key internal stakeholders are consulted with as part of the case management process.
- Absence Management: Proactively monitor and manage the employee absence process, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with company policies. Generate and interpret the monthly sickness absence report. Advise on absence trigger points and support the HR Managers to make the appropriate recommendations to Managers.
- Policy Design and Review: Collaborate with HR Managers to create and implement HR policies and procedures. Review policy documentation and maintain updates on a regular basis to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- General HR Queries: Advise and provide an advisory service to employees ensuring they are fully aware and understand company policies, procedures and processes.
- Workflow Management: Oversee more junior team members in their responses to employee enquiries, providing accurate and timely information to any queries. Lead regular meetings to understand, address and pro-actively manage the workload of the HR Services team and collaborate with the other HR Assistant Managers to collectively manage capacity and delivery. Feedback on capacity to Head of HR Services and HR Managers and flag any concerns.
- Wellbeing Initiatives: Develop, implement and manage wellbeing programmes to promote a healthy and balanced work environment, linking in with policy and I&B Manager.
- People Administration: Responsibility for contract checking and review, and oversee the maintenance and updating of employee records, HR data and files on the DMS, ensuring 100% accuracy when updating and inputting.
- HR Reporting: Oversee the process of designing, developing and running value added HR reports based on business need. Complete appropriate data analysis where necessary.
- HR Systems: Support the development of further self-service functionality and act as the first point of contact for any employee and manager queries and training needs.
- HR Projects: Complete HR project work as required to agreed timescales.
- Continuous Development: Ensure personal knowledge of HR and Employment Law is continually updated for you to have a competent understanding of all core HR and ER processes and provide support to more junior team members and the wider business as appropriate.
- Reasonable Management Requests: Complete any other tasks deemed necessary by Management.
Key Skills & Experience
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Level 5 CIPD preferred.
- Previous experience in an HR role with a focus on employee relations and wellbeing.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively.
- Knowledge of employment law.
