We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support the Finance and Reporting Manager and the wider finance function of a fast-paced, private equity-backed business. The role will play a key part in maintaining strong financial controls, delivering timely and accurate reporting, and supporting value-creation initiatives in line with PE ownership expectations. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong qualified (ACCA/ACA) to join an evolving team in a growing business. The role is based in our Birmingham city centre office with a hybrid workstyle.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting
    • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
    • Own balance sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls across all legal entities
    • Support month-end and year-end close processes to tight deadlines
    • Produce monthly analysis, including departmental and service line reporting and variance analysis
    • Support with the budgeting and forecasting processes
    • Assist with statutory accounts preparation and audit coordination
    • VAT, PAYE & Corporation Tax Compliance
    • Support with the delivery of the annual audit and preparation of annual Statutory Accounts
  • Private Equity & Stakeholder Support
    • Deliver reporting packs for the Board and private equity investors
    • Support financial analysis, KPIs, and performance tracking against budget and forecasts
    • Assist with transaction-related activity (acquisitions, integrations, disposals)
    • Support lender reporting and covenant compliance
  • Controls, Process & Systems
    • Strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures in line with best practice
    • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and scalability
    • Support finance systems implementations or enhancements
    • Assisting with integration of acquisitions, including alignment of financial systems and processes, and embedding into monthly reporting

Qualifications

  • ACCA/ACA qualified
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Previous experience owning the monthly accounts production process
  • Experience working with and consolidating a multi-legal entity structure
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Able to demonstrate strong team management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is advantageous
