We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support the Finance and Reporting Manager and wider finance function of a fast-paced, private equity-backed business. The role will play a key part in maintaining strong financial controls, delivering timely and accurate reporting, and supporting value creation initiatives in line with PE ownership expectations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong qualified (ACCA/ACA) to join an evolving team in a growing business. This role is based in our Birmingham city centre office with a hybrid workstyle.
What does the role entail?
- Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Own balance sheet reconciliations and ensure robust financial controls across all legal entities
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to tight deadlines
- Produce monthly analysis, including departmental and service line reporting and variance analysis
- Support with the budgeting and forecasting processes
- Assist with statutory accounts preparation and audit coordination
- VAT, PAYE & Corporation Tax Compliance
- Support with the delivery of the annual audit and preparation of annual Statutory Accounts
- Private Equity & Stakeholder Support
- Deliver reporting packs for the Board and private equity investors
- Support financial analysis, KPIs, and performance tracking against budget and forecasts
- Assist with transaction-related activity (acquisitions, integrations, disposals)
- Support lender reporting and covenant compliance
- Controls, Process & Systems
- Strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures in line with best practice
- Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and scalability
- Support finance systems implementations or enhancements
- Assisting with integration of acquisitions, including alignment of financial systems and processes, and embedding into monthly reporting
- Plus any other responsibilities as required to support the growth of the business and finance team.
What we're looking for?
- ACCA/ACA qualified
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
- Previous experience owning the monthly accounts production process
- Experience working with and consolidation of a multi-legal entity structure
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Able to demonstrate strong team management experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels
- Experience with Sage Intacct is advantageous.
