The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a working knowledge of how to deliver Social Value in the construction industry. They will understand the importance of supporting local employment, training and the local economy but will equally be able to develop our support to the communities we work in.

This full-time role will be based onsite in Billingham. In addition to supporting this live construction project, the role also requires the successful candidate to assist the team with implementation of Group and Business Unit social value strategies and winning future projects. The role involves working closely with other social value and sustainability professionals, construction project teams, community partners, and the supply chain. The candidate must have the confidence to support project teams to ensure that social value requirements, such as local employment, apprenticeship numbers, local spend, and community outreach are met. A methodical approach to workload is necessary, as is the ability to prioritise important over urgent. The role involves working in both a standalone capacity as well as being part of the wider social value team. The individual should have experience related to the construction industry (or built environment projects) and social value, but this is not essential. The successful candidate may be required to support other ISG projects in the North East depending on their capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the social value plan and provide insight on how to maximise social value
  • Support the project team to implement social value initiatives (including but not limited to work placements, apprenticeships, educational events, careers events, community initiatives, supply chain engagement and support, etc.)
  • Support projects in recording, reporting, and achieving social value targets
  • Meet client, stakeholder, legislative, other third party and internal requirements on social standards
  • Advise the commercial team on securing supply chain involvement
  • Liaise with relevant partner organisations, such as local schools, charities, employment and skills agencies
  • Monitor and review social value data provided by project teams to ensure accuracy and performance improvement and to ensure that data and evidence provided is of a standard to be externally assured.

Key Deliverables

  • Support the production bid content for winning work
  • Liaise with the project site teams and supply chain on site and ensure that ISG, Client and Stakeholder social value objectives are met within required timeframes
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain a culture whereby project teams deliver requirements with strategic support and leadership from the social value team
  • Increase the knowledge and capability of project-based staff to deliver social value
  • Liaise with clients and professional teams via meetings and producing project social value reports
  • Supporting Project Managers to maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and community stakeholders and representing the business within those forums
  • Engage with the ISG Supply Chain and Procurement teams to drive continuous improvement against ISG objectives and client requirements
  • Capture ISG best practice and produce case studies to share information and improve performance
  • Support the development of social value KPI (Key Performance Indicators) data measuring and recording techniques
  • Devise and run community engagement programmes across the business and on individual projects
  • Communicate social value issues and performance to site teams and senior management
  • Monthly central reporting on project social value performance

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Experience of delivering social value projects and meeting project targets
  • National Themes, Outcomes, and Measures (TOMs) awareness/ experience
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Confidently communicate (written and oral) both internally and externally
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience and understanding of social value issues and opportunities in construction
  • Excellent IT skills; in particular, knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
