Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy with the appointment of an experienced Principal / Associate Environmental Consultant (EIA & Consenting) to join their growing Scotland team.


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to take a leading role in the delivery of complex Environmental Impact Assessments and consenting projects across the energy, infrastructure and development sectors.


The successful candidate can be based anywhere in Scotland, with hybrid working and homeworking options available for the right individual.

The Scotland team works across a diverse range of sectors including energy, infrastructure, transport and major development, providing strategic environmental advice and supporting clients through complex consenting processes.


The Role


As a Principal / Associate Environmental Consultant, you will play a key role in leading Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and associated consenting processes across a range of major projects.


You will be responsible for:



  • Leading and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental consenting processes.

  • Acting as a technical lead across multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Managing projects from bid stage through to completion.

  • Supporting and contributing to bids, tenders and business development opportunities.

  • Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

  • Providing strategic environmental advice across complex projects.

  • Ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard, on programme and within budget.

  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members, helping to develop team capability and expertise.

  • Working collaboratively with environmental specialists, engineers and design teams on nationally significant projects.


About You


We are seeking an ambitious environmental professional with strong technical experience who is looking to take the next step in their career.


You will ideally have:



  • A degree qualification in an environmental or related discipline.

  • Strong experience delivering and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).

  • A thorough understanding of environmental consenting and permitting processes.

  • Experience managing complex projects from inception through to delivery.

  • Experience contributing to bids and tender submissions.

  • Strong communication, analytical and report-writing skills.

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and engaging with stakeholders.

  • Membership of a relevant professional body.


Desirable experience includes:



  • Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Scientist or equivalent professional status.

  • Experience working within energy, infrastructure or other large-scale development sectors.

  • Experience supporting nationally significant infrastructure projects.
