Job Description

AECOM is offering an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning Soil, Groundwater and Remediation Team. You'll work in a collaborative, high-performing environment that prioritises wellbeing, flexibility, and professional growth. Our team supports a broad range of sectors - including industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, land development, ports, road, and rail - delivering services such as:

  • Desk studies
  • Site investigation
  • Risk assessment
  • Remediation strategy, design, implementation, and validation
  • Environmental monitoring and close-out

This role provides an excellent platform to develop technical and commercial skills, take ownership of projects, and contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes. Here’s what you will do:

  • Deliver Phase 1 environmental assessments, ground investigations, and routine monitoring tasks;
  • Work independently to ensure technical quality, budget control, and programme adherence;
  • Support the preparation of fee proposals for internal and external clients;
  • Manage projects from desk study and feasibility, through to delivery of site investigations and data interpretation, to remediation design and delivery.

Qualifications

Education

Ideally, a minimum of an undergraduate degree in an environmental, science, or engineering-based subject.

Technical Knowledge and Skills
  • A good understanding of contaminated land assessment regulations and guidance
  • Working knowledge of CDM regulations and site management
  • Development of conceptual site models
  • Qualitative risk assessment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and documents
Field Experience

Hands-on experience with field investigation, including:

  • Site management
  • Drilling supervision
  • Collection of groundwater and ground gas samples
  • Supervision of remediation activities
Other Requirements
  • Full driving licence
  • Willing to travel within the UK and work away from home for periods of time
  • CSCS card holder
