Your new role involves delivering and leading environmental consultancy projects across the Midlands, with a flexible, remote-based working model and occasional site/client visits. You will manage and develop key client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact. The role includes delivering high-quality environmental compliance and sustainability services, including audits, risk assessments, and permit applications. You will lead projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard, while coordinating with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders. For those operating at Principal level, you will also take on additional responsibility for strategic client leadership, mentoring colleagues, and supporting the growth of the business through business development activities, bid preparation, and identifying new opportunities. You will also contribute to delivering training, workshops, and ongoing support to clients, helping them build robust environmental management systems and meet best practice standards.
What you'll need to succeed:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification is desirable but not essential.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience within environmental consultancy or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, ISO standards, and sustainability principles
- Proven experience managing client relationships and delivering consultancy projects
- Experience supporting business development, including tenders and proposals
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. ISEP/IEMA, CIWEM, or equivalent)
In addition, you will demonstrate:
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of consultancy performance
- The ability to balance technical delivery with commercial outcomes
- Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to build long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for growth
