The QSHE Manager is responsible for actively ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting a strong safety culture across the UK Engineering operation. This role includes overseeing safety compliance tools, conducting site audits, supporting new contract setups from a Health & Safety perspective, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. The QSHE Manager will work closely with various team members and clients to maintain and elevate standards in site-based engineering roles, the Regional Engineering network, and in-house engineering, while maintaining reporting lines through the Safety+ team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee compliance with all QSHE-related log books and systems, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records.
- Regularly review and audit engineering compliance against regulatory and company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation and tracking of incidents, near-misses, and safety observations, implementing preventive measures to avoid re-occurrence.
- Identify potential hazards and risks, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed ad hoc requested QSHE related reports, highlighting findings, recommendations, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure timely follow-up on any audit findings to achieve effective resolution and risk mitigation.
- Champion a strong safety culture across all levels of the UK Engineering operation.
- Develop, implement, and deliver safety training programs and toolbox talks to employees and contractors as required.
- Facilitate employee participation in safety initiatives and committees, fostering a proactive safety environment.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to the highest Health, Safety & Environmental practices.
- Stay updated with relevant QSHE regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure the Savills & UK Engineering QSHE policies and procedures comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement new QSHE policies and procedures as required.
- Provide QSHE expertise and support during the setup of new contracts, ensuring all QSHE aspects are addressed.
- Conduct initial QSHE assessments and audits for new sites, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Develop QSHE plans and documentation for new contracts, aligning with client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Assist and guide on the production of all Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Train and support new team members on QSHE policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Provide oversight ensuring accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported accordingly, while supporting investigations and ensuring action is taken.
- Track and analyse accident/incident trends to identify opportunities for improvement and mitigation.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the company's Health, Safety & Environmental management systems and initiatives.
- Work with surveyors, site teams, and other Savills/client stakeholders on resolving QHSE queries.
- Safeguard clients' assets and the UK Engineering business by minimising the loss of materials and costs as a result of incidents, accidents, or near misses.
- Work with other internal Savills specialists to develop and monitor quality and environmental performance metrics.
- Attend client meetings as required.
- Identify and promote opportunities for continuous improvement in QSHE practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement best practices and improve operational efficiency.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a QSHE role, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity, preferably within the facilities management or building services industry.
- Professional certification in QSHE, such as Tech member of IOSH as a minimum, or equivalent.
- A strong track record of communication and client focus.
