ADAS ALM, part of the RSK Group, is seeking an Agriculture and Environment Consultant to join our Agriculture and Land Management team on a full-time, permanent basis with a mixture of hybrid home and office working. This role is based in the South West, although this can be flexible.
The successful candidate will join a team delivering consultancy to farmer and grower clients, advice programmes on behalf of government agencies, projects for supply chain, utility companies, commercial organisations, charities and research institutes. The role requires versatility and a willingness to be involved in a range of consultancy services to farmers and other industry stakeholders. Our team provide wide-ranging agricultural and environmental consultancy, so the successful candidate will have a matching wide skillset and knowledge base with an interest to further develop their own specialist knowledge.
The successful candidate will either have a track record in directly providing agricultural consultancy advice to landowners or have practical experience of farming. We require all our consultants to have a broad understanding of farming sustainably whilst protecting the environment, knowledge of agricultural soils, nutrients, livestock and/or arable production, farm business management, farm infrastructure, land management with a specialist focus in one or more of these areas relevant to their role.
Key ResponsibilitiesSpecific responsibilities will be tailored and aligned to the successful candidate’s existing knowledge, skills and future career aspirations at ADAS, but could include aspects of the below:
- Farm visits to deliver advice on the reduction of diffuse pollution, resource protection, land and soil management, farm infrastructure and agri-environment schemes.
- Provision of technical and business-focused farm management and consultancy including working for individual farmers, corporate clients and delivering contracts funded by the public sector covering a range of subjects such as regenerative farming, agricultural soils, nutrients, livestock, carbon auditing, agri-environment schemes.
- Working in project teams to develop and deliver a portfolio of private client work.
- Prepare tenders and client proposals as part of bid teams and individually.
- Analyse problems and help provide independent, cost-effective solutions to clients, including technically correct and legally compliant advice.
- Contribute to business development by promoting ADAS and developing contacts with new and existing clients, through meetings, speaking at events and press and media activities.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant, practical post-graduate experience in agriculture is required.
- Agricultural or Environmental Degree.
- Industry-recognised qualifications e.g. FACTS, BASIS Crop Protection, BASIS Soil & Water preferable. Training will be provided otherwise.
- Competent user of Microsoft software including Windows, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Understand and communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport.
- Ability to travel away from home base when required.
- Flexibility in the range of work undertaken.
