Role Summary
Reporting to the Australian HSE Manager this role adds value by enabling Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), creating foresight about the changing shape of risk and facilitating action before people, the environment, or assets are harmed.
Support for Project and Services personnel in implementing and improving safety and environmental processes and practices that meet organisational HSE objectives. They shall provide timely and accurate subject matter guidance on HSE opportunities and challenges and work with the project team, client and contractors for timely and effective implementation and enforcement of safe systems of work.
They shall report as required (daily, weekly, monthly) on Projects and Services HSE performance and monitor and maintain project HSE files and data within Fluence\\\’s document management systems (DMS).
This position provides support to leadership and oversight for project operations and will coordinate with clients, contractors and Fluence HSE teams as necessary.
This position will be site based and will require travel within NSW.
Essential Responsibilities
- Attend site locations regularly to provide real time support and advice on HSE requirements
- Review and audit the implementation of Project and Services HSE plans, procedures and processes aligned to work scope, including but not limited to:

- Principal Contractor requirements (on Projects)
- Induction and training programs
- Traffic Management Plans
- Emergency Response Plans
- Environmental Management Plans
- Incident response and investigation
- High risk construction work
- Report Projects and Services HSE performance as directed
- Encourage and enable reporting of health, safety, environment and quality incidents
- Review investigation causal and root cause factors
- Monitor and report on status of corrective and preventative actions
- Develop and implement Project and Services specific HSE plans, procedures and processes as required
- Review and comment on contractor HSE management plans, procedures and processes as required
- Implement, conduct, and report on project assurance and governance requirements
- Report on contractor HSE performance
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, customers and Fluence stakeholders
- Develop and maintain Services risk and impact registers, review those of Principal Contractors
- Participate in risk workshops in relation to Projects and Services where required
- Influence and coach Fluence and contractor personnel in relation to HSE legislation and best practices
- Participate in change management processes relating to HSE legislation, regulation, client and or Fluence policy
- Lead, conduct and participate in project leadership activities (safety walks, inspections, engagement, and observations etc.)
- Monitor and report on injured workers status and develop return to work plans as necessary
- Champion global, regional and country vision, mission, objectives, goals, and initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or similar
- Four years of experience in the HSE within the energy industry (industrial, civil, oil and gas, manufacturing) advantageous
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and database management
- Strong investigative skills with experience in applying causation investigation models
- Good communication, report writing, presentation and stakeholder management skillset
- Good analytical skillset
- Lead auditor (9001, 45001 / 4801, 14001 management systems) highly desirable
- Comprehensive knowledge of Work, Health and Safety and Environmental legislation within area of accountability
This role is based at our project site in Wellington as well as travel to other sites in NSW.
