This Health, Safety and Environment Manager position sits within the Davidstow Plant Leadership Team (PLT) and will be responsible for implementing group HSE strategies, maintaining legal compliance, and achieving company standards. Safety is our top priority, and we tailor HSE initiatives to site-specific needs to drive workforce engagement and continuous improvement. Davidstow is a complex, high-volume site with approximately 180 employees and up to 300 contractors during shutdowns. The site has undergone significant investment and process improvements. This role carries autonomy to shape HSE initiatives to meet local needs.

Responsibilities
- Leading cultural and behavioural health and safety improvements across the Davidstow site.
- Developing HSE competence at all levels and departments.
- Co-ordinating investigations of accidents or incidents affecting people, environment, property, or process, liaising with enforcement authorities.
- Driving delivery of company HSE strategy at site level.
- Identifying and mitigating site-specific risks, including ammonia systems, chemical handling (high-strength caustics and acids), and traffic movement.
- Acting as the face of the business with regulatory bodies (EA, HSE), contractors, and local communities, including managing feedback on noise and odour.
- Supporting and influencing the PLT to deliver a consistent, continuously improving HSE programme.
- Working closely with group teams to implement effective management systems for occupational HSE and associated risks.
- Auditing compliance with SDUK and global standards and implementing corrective actions.
Qualifications
- A NEBOSH Diploma holder (or equivalent) with experience in manufacturing at a comparable scale.
- Skilled in driving cultural change programmes and managing people.
- Knowledgeable in ammonia refrigeration safety, listeria control, and environmental permitting.
- Experienced with IPC/EP permitting, UK environmental legislation, and ISO 14001/45001 standards.
- Comfortable engaging with regulatory bodies, contractors, and local communities.
- Strong communicator, able to influence and coach at all levels.
- Experienced in budget planning and control.
- Able to manage complex projects and prioritise effectively during shutdowns.
