About Isembard
Isembard is building a network of high-performance factories for critical industries. We combine advanced machine tools, robotics and our own software, MasonOS, to make precision components for aerospace, defence, energy and frontier technology companies, with factories across the UK, US, Germany and France. Our mission is to forge industrial acceleration.
The role
Quality is where a precision factory earns its customers or loses them. This role owns quality control at our London factory, on parts going to aerospace, defence, energy and other critical industries. It is hands-on inspection and engineering judgement in equal measure. Beyond the bench, you will build the procedures and controls that let the factory grow without inspection becoming the bottleneck.
What you'll do
- Inspect parts entering QC after cleaning, running visual and dimensional checks with the right tooling.
- Read drawings and part requirements correctly, and disposition rework and nonconforming parts.
- Keep MasonOS and FlatBOM accurate. The rest of the factory plans against what you record.
- Build quality procedures and governance so quality is controlled in the process, not only found at final inspection.
- Improve QC systems and SOPs, and strengthen the handoffs into and out of quality.
- Drive measurable process improvements with machining and CAM teams.
What we're looking for
- An engineering degree or equivalent technical experience.
- Confidence reading technical drawings.
- A willingness to work on the factory floor rather than next to it.
- Problem-solving, initiative and ownership: you will often be the person who notices what others missed.
- Manufacturing, quality or engineering experience, including from an internship or placement.
Nice to have
- Metrology, inspection or QC experience.
- Process improvement experience.
- Exposure to precision manufacturing, aerospace, defence or energy.
Why Isembard
- Learn quickly across engineering and manufacturing, with one-to-one mentorship.
- Real room to advance as the quality function grows.
- Competitive salary and equity.
Location: On-site at our Southwark factory in London.
