Isca Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced accounting professional seeking to join a successful growing SME business as the Finance Manager at their Exeter office. Reporting to the Directors, this is a hands-on Finance Manager position where you will take ownership for all aspects of accounting duties as well as delivering cost and profitability analysis to improve efficiencies and help steer strategic decisions.

Finance Manager - Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the purchase and sales ledgers, bank and statement reconciliations.
  • Monitoring and maintaining invoice factoring records, credit control as needed.
  • Month end duties including payment runs, journal entries, management accounting including variance analysis.
  • Budgeting and forecasting.
  • MI analysis and reporting, including profit margin analysis.
  • Supporting and business partnering management, helping build financial understanding, challenging as needed as well as ensuring accurate cost allocations and identifying cost reduction opportunities.
  • Producing VAT returns.
  • Responsible for the payroll.
  • Maintaining and improving finance processes and controls across the business.
  • Delivering financial analysis to improve financial understanding and profitability where possible.
  • Preparation of year end accounts, liaising with external accountants.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: up to £45,000pa + benefits including 25 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, EAP, life insurance.

Location & Hours

Location: Onsite at offices on the outskirts of Exeter, free parking.
Hours: Mon - Fri, 8am- 4:30pm (some flexibility available).

About the role

This role will suit an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a hands-on all-round role with a fast-paced business, with responsibility for maintaining accounts, supporting the Directors with timely accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis to influence strategic decisions. Recent experience including transactional accounting, management accounting and cost analysis ideally gained in a manufacturing business.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • A strong communicator, you'll possess an approachable personality and a positive attitude, able to build relationships, persuade and influence decisions.
  • IT literate with experience of Xero, Excel (formula, look ups etc), systems implementation a bonus!
  • Team player able to work using own initiative and effectively manage own time.
