You’ll be working as part of a small payroll team, reporting to the Payroll Manager you will take responsibility for delivering a timely, accurate payroll function for the business.
- Responsible for all aspects of processing payrolls for hourly paid and salaried staff.
- Checking timesheets and variable pay are accurate, liaising with line managers with any queries.
- Timely processing of all payroll payments, including PAYE, Pension and NICs.
- Updating payroll information including starters, leavers, tax code notices, SSP, attachment of earnings, etc.
- Undertaking Employer Payment Submissions to HMRC and processing payment.
- Responding to payroll queries or issues promptly.
- Submitting pension information, including processing opt‑out requests, voluntary contributions, etc.
- Running of monthly payroll reports.
- Checking expense claims, including validation and payment of claims.
- Supporting payroll and compliance, ensuring processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
The Rewards
- Salary: £28,000 - £34,000 per annum pro rata based on experience and qualifications.
- Hours: approximately 24 hrs per week, Monday – Friday.
- Location: In‑office, Exeter outskirts.

- We are keen to hear from payroll professionals with current experience of UK payrolls and pensions.
- You’ll be a first‑rate communicator able to explain payroll information to employees.
- A natural problem‑solver with excellent attention to detail, you will also possess experience of working with payroll software, knowledge of IRIS or Cascade a bonus!
- You will be a self‑starter with a proactive approach and a desire to work in a growing, friendly business with outstanding service at its core.
- You will be a team player and enjoy working in a collaborative manner with colleagues at all levels in the business.
