Isca Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a commercially astute accountant to join a growing SME business as the Part Time Finance Director at their office near Exeter, Devon. This is a crucial new role in the senior leadership team; working closely with the Managing Director, the Finance Director will be providing financial insight, strategic support as well as taking ownership for the finance function. You will enjoy working in a hands-on role within a people-focused business where you will see the impact of your work on a daily basis!

Part-Time Finance Director – Duties

  • Responsible for the day-to-day finance function with the support of an experienced Bookkeeper.
  • Producing timely monthly management accounts, financial analysis and reporting for senior leadership team.
  • Collaborating with the SLT, providing financial leadership, commercial insights and strategic input to ensure the financial health, stability and business growth.
  • Business partnering – supporting budget holders, helping build financial understanding, challenging as needed as well as ensuring accurate cost allocations.
  • Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
  • Fixed assets, accruals and prepayments.
  • Financial modelling for new opportunities and projects, ensuring financial viability, highlighting risks and accounting requirements.
  • Reviewing suppliers, monitoring SLAs and costs, advising SLT as needed.
  • Overseeing payroll and liaising with third party payroll providers.
  • Main point of contact with external auditors and coordinating the annual audit process.
  • Maintaining and developing effective financial controls.
  • Leading on projects e.g. systems improvements, process streamlining and business expansion activities.

Part-Time Finance Director – The Rewards

  • Salary: £70,000 – £80,000pa pro rata doe (£42,000 – £48,000pa actual)
  • Hours: 3 days per week
  • Location: In office, near Exeter with travel to other sites in Devon as needed

Part-Time Finance Director – The Person

This role will suit a proactive, commercially astute accountant seeking a varied hands-on role with a growing SME; we are keen to hear from individuals with proven financial leadership experience and experience of strategic decision making in SME multi-site businesses. You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA), with the relevant operational finance experience. You will enjoy using your commercial skills – able to see the bigger picture and plan ahead whilst also being hands-on to ensure the timely delivery of monthly reports. A natural problem-solver with excellent analytical skills you’ll be able to prioritise and meet deadlines in a complex business. You’ll be a first-rate communicator able to inspire, persuade and influence, with the ability to lead and positively manage and empower others to achieve. You will be a team player and enjoy working in a collaborative manner with colleagues at all levels in the business. Strong IT skills with experience of Sage.
