The Public Relations Specialist is part of a dynamic team at the heart of the cybersecurity industry, providing fresh perspectives, and new strategies and tactics. You will regularly engage senior management, subject matter experts, regional teams, department heads, members and others throughout the organization. You will also oversee the PR program in the UK and will independently and proactively identify opportunities to generate positive news coverage for the association, its certifications, education offerings, members, research program and other initiatives, as well as build awareness for security as a rewarding profession. This is a fixed term contract covering Maternity Leave.

Responsibilities
  • Execute the day-to-day activities related to UK media relations, including building relationships with press, drafting and distributing press releases, coordinating media interviews, developing award submissions, managing media lists and monitoring media coverage.
  • Contribute to the development of thought leadership material, including blogs, and byline articles.
  • Provide support to ISC2 executives and thought leaders, including assisting in developing briefing documents.
  • Create original and compelling copy for multiple communications channels, audiences, and regions, including web, print, events, video scripts, newsletters and social media.
  • Collaborate and develop communications plans to support various company initiatives like product and service launches and updates.
  • Monitor success of media relations activity.
  • Work closely with team members within the department, as well as being able to perform duties independently.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional communication and advanced project management skills with an emphasis on written communication, presentation skills and interfacing with a diverse array of people.
  • Experience with managing projects and clients, as well as experience working within a global team (preferably a remote, distributed workforce), with the ability to create and coordinate project deliverables across multiple internal teams.
  • Strong computer and technical skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web applications.
  • Cybersecurity PR experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • Experience working with member associations or nonprofits is a plus.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field preferred.
  • At least 6 years of experience in a Public Relations or Communications role, either within corporate, media or agency.
  • Some agency experience is preferred, but not essential.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Work remotely from home.
  • 5-10% travel.
  • Work normal business hours and extended hours when necessary.
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods.
  • Regular use of office equipment such as a computer/laptop and monitor computer screens.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.
