Alleyn's Oakfield, based in South London, West Dulwich, is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and highly skilled Head of Art to cover a period of maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Art educator to lead and deliver a rich, ambitious Art and Design curriculum within a creative and supportive primary school environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for specialist Art teaching across Key Stage 2, and for the ongoing leadership and development of Art and Design across the school.

Creativity and the visual arts are highly valued at Alleyn’s Oakfield. Pupils explore a wide range of processes and materials, including drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, digital art and design-based projects. The successful candidate will inherit an established curriculum, with clear progression in skills, knowledge and vocabulary, while having the professional freedom to bring their own expertise, ideas and creative practice to the role.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join a warm, collaborative community where staff are valued, creativity is encouraged and children thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

This position is available on a part-time, fixed-term basis from Thursday 7 January 2027 to Wednesday 15 December 2027, to cover a period of maternity leave. The role is 0.6 FTE, worked over three full days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Monday 2 November 2026. Applications will be reviewed on receipt and we reserve the right to interview and appoint before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged and welcomed.

Interviews will be conducted at Alleyn’s Oakfield on Thursday 12th November 2026.
