Overview


Eltham College Family of Schools invites applications for a Part Time Receptionist (Junior School). The receptionist provides a welcoming and efficient first point of contact for callers both by telephone and in person and assists in the smooth running of the school office by fulfilling appropriate administrative duties.


Hours and pattern


Hours of work: 7:30am to 6:15pm, Thursday and Friday (19.5 hours per week). The Junior School Reception desk requires cover by two staff between 7:30am and 6:15pm, Monday to Friday. The vacancy is for Thursday and Friday, but applicants may be considered for alternative part-time patterns, such as morning shifts 7:30am to 12:00 noon, Monday to Friday (22.5 hours per week). Applicants should indicate preferred working pattern on application. Term time only (35 weeks).


Main Responsibilities



  • Responsible for the appearance of the reception area on a day-to-day basis.

  • Answering all incoming calls, redirecting as appropriate and handling enquiries when possible.

  • Greeting, assisting and/or directing students, parents, visitors.

  • Monitoring visitor access and ensuring that security policies and emergency procedures are adhered to at all times.

  • Providing general administrative and clerical support to the School Office.

  • Monitoring the completion of Form Registers and following up student absences where required.

  • Carrying out any other reasonable requests in line with the broad responsibilities of the job.

  • Assisting at the School Open Day (annual Saturday in September).
