From September 2026, Downside School will recruit Resident Sports Assistants for a 10‑month contract (September 2026‑June 2027). The role includes coaching selected sports, supporting the school’s sports and wider‑curricular programme, and providing pastoral support through optional house assistant duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach and provide training in one or more sports including Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Tennis, Football or Strength & Conditioning.
- Work closely with the Director of Sport to deliver the weekly sports curriculum.
- Assist in planning and running sports and wider‑curricular activities for boys and girls.
- Contribute to pastoral care, potentially as part of an optional House Assistant role (approximately two evenings per week).
- Drive the school minibus where required (full MiDAS training provided).
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree or a suitable placement as part of an undergraduate degree.
- Experience in coaching listed sports.
- Passion for working with children in an educational setting.
