The Public & Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for supporting and helping deliver ISBA’s public affairs, policy and regulatory engagement activity, ensuring that members’ interests are effectively represented with policymakers, regulators, industry bodies and other relevant stakeholders. The role helps strengthen ISBA’s influence, credibility and visibility across the public policy and regulatory landscape affecting advertisers. This is a practical policy, advocacy and stakeholder engagement role that combines horizon-scanning, policy development, consultation responses, member engagement and external representation. The postholder will help shape ISBA positions on key industry issues, support engagement with government and regulators, and contribute to co-ordinated external affairs activity that protects and advances members’ interests. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across PR & Communications, Content & Social Media and the wider ISBA team to ensure that policy, regulatory and public affairs activity is well informed, well communicated and aligned to ISBA’s strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of ISBA’s engagement with Westminster, government departments, parliamentarians, devolved administrations and other relevant external stakeholders.
- Monitor political, legislative and regulatory developments affecting advertisers and the wider advertising industry, and identify implications, risks and opportunities for ISBA and its members.
- Draft high-quality briefings, consultation responses, stakeholder correspondence, speaking notes, policy summaries and other materials that support ISBA’s advocacy and influencing activity.
- Contribute to advocacy campaigns and public affairs activity around agreed policy priorities, ensuring that ISBA’s positions are clear, evidence-based and timely.
- Support ISBA’s engagement with key regulatory and industry bodies, including the Committee of Advertising Practice, the Advertising Standards Authority, and other relevant forums and stakeholders.
- Track developments in advertising, media, privacy, platform and related regulation, and help communicate relevant implications to members and colleagues.
- Support the work of ISBA’s Public Affairs Forum and other relevant member working groups, ensuring they are well-informed, well-organised and useful in surfacing member priorities and intelligence.
- Help develop member-facing policy content, updates, briefings and guidance notes that make complex developments more accessible and actionable.
- Work collaboratively with the wider External Affairs team to ensure that policy and regulatory activity is effectively integrated with PR, communications, content and wider campaign delivery.
- Represent ISBA externally at meetings, industry events and stakeholder forums where appropriate, including organisations such as the Advertising Association and the World Federation of Advertisers where relevant support is needed.
