iSAM is an innovative financial technology firm specialising in quantitative trading, comprised of iSAM Funds and iSAM Securities. iSAM Securities, regulated by the FCA, SFC, and CIMA, is a leading algorithmic trading firm and trusted electronic market maker, providing liquidity, technology, and prime services to institutional clients and trading venues globally. The firm offers full-service prime brokerage and execution via its cutting-edge proprietary technology, as well as market-leading analytics, cleared through the group’s bank Prime Brokers. iSAM Funds is an alternative asset manager specialising in systematic investing. Each strategy is unique, provides a specialist quantitative approach, and is designed to deliver highly diversifying absolute returns for institutional portfolios.
The Role
Within iSAM Securities, the Bridge front office team develops and supports an MT4/MT5/FIX bridge using sophisticated proprietary pricing, execution, and liquidity management solutions. We are currently undergoing a major re-engineering of this product and are looking for a mid-level Java developer (5–10 years’ experience) to join our London team. We recruit engineers who take pride in building robust systems and are comfortable taking ownership in a demanding environment. We are a small team and we adopt a lean, rapid development cycle, so an open mind and willingness to learn are essential. We are agile in spirit, but we don’t follow any ceremonies. We strongly believe in the power of collaboration, so the right personality is just as important as technical skills for this role (and for the Company in general). We are looking for a strong backend engineer who also takes an interest in the end product, including how it is used and presented. Depth in backend development is essential; front-end involvement is expected, but not at the expense of core engineering quality. In this sense, this is not a traditional full-stack position. Candidates primarily focused on front-end development are unlikely to be a good fit. Whilst this is primarily a development role, you will be expected to actively support production systems within a support rota. Finally, please note that this is an office-based position.
Required
- Strong developers with excellent Java, Linux (scripting and command line), and SQL database skills.
- Proven ability to deliver well-tested, quality software.
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn new languages and technologies.
- Ability to design APIs with front-end consumers in mind.
- Comfort debugging issues across the stack (UI, API, database).
- Interest in trading and execution, a capacity to take on a variety of work.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a constantly changing financial environment.
Preferred
- Experience with React or similar frameworks, including component-based design and state management.
- A pragmatic sense of UI/UX: you recognise good interfaces and know how to create one.
- Exposure to trading systems or financial markets.
