As the Assistant Shop Manager, you will be working directly with the Shop Manager and the team of incredible volunteers.
Each of our shops has its own unique personality, and you’ll play a key role in maintaining our strong reputation within the local community. Your work will help prevent reusable items from going to landfill, while also ensuring we can continue providing expert care to the people who need it most.
Our retail teams cover the needs of their stores by working on a rota basis. This is a 14-hour per week role, working every Sunday and one additional day, which may be a Saturday or a weekday. As such, the role requires weekend working and flexibility, with shifts scheduled across 2 days out of 7.
What will I be doing?
- Supporting the Shop Manager to maximise store income and profits by delivering exceptional retail standards
- Maintaining and promoting the highest standard of customer care
- Creating eye-catching displays and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shop
- Supporting the Shop Manager to engage and train volunteers to assist in the running of the shop
- Meeting gift aid conversion rates from people donating goods
- Support events held both in the shop (evenings) and the local community
What skills are you looking for?
- Experience of working in a customer focused environment
- Interest in or experience with sustainable fashion
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Shows understanding, respect and consideration for others at all times
- Strong organisational skills with a proactive approach to work
- Ability to lead by example and maintain a positive attitude
- Collaborative team player
- Proficiency in email, MS Office, and internet use
