Our client is a global engineering business supplying highly engineered products into the energy sector. They are looking to appoint a Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership across product design, engineering analysis and development projects whilst mentoring a team of engineers.

The Role

You'll play a key role in the design, analysis and continuous development of specialist engineered equipment, taking ownership of projects from initial concept through to manufacture and customer delivery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Mechanical design and development of specialist engineered products
  • Structural assessment using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Technical leadership across multiple engineering projects
  • Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, reports and calculations
  • Leading design reviews and technical discussions
  • Providing mentoring and guidance to junior engineers
  • Supporting customers with technical solutions and quotations
  • Working closely with manufacturing, projects and commercial teams

About You

You'll ideally have:

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer
  • Extensive experience within mechanical product design
  • Strong FEA and engineering calculations experience
  • Excellent 3D CAD skills
  • Experience working with pressure equipment, subsea, drilling, oil & gas or heavy engineering products
  • Previous experience leading engineers or acting as a technical authority
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards CEng, would be advantageous
