Due to continued growth and increasing customer demand, Clas-SiC is looking to recruit a Test Engineer to support the testing and characterisation of silicon carbide (SiC) power devices within its wafer fabrication facility in Fife. This is a hands-on engineering role, working at the heart of device testing and yield improvement, supporting both ongoing production and the introduction of new power semiconductor products.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work primarily within the test engineering area of the fab, taking ownership of electrical testing activities for SiC diodes and MOSFETs. The role combines practical test engineering, data analysis, and close collaboration with process engineering and customer project teams. You will play a key role in ensuring devices meet performance and reliability requirements, while also helping to improve test methods, yields, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Electrical testing of SiC power devices using manual and automated test equipment and probers
- Developing, maintaining, and improving robust test procedures, routines, and software
- Analysing large volumes of electrical test data to monitor yield, identify trends, and support root cause analysis
- Working closely with process engineering to resolve yield or variability issues
- Supporting new device introductions by translating customer and project requirements into effective test solutions
- Preparing and reviewing customer GDS files for mask making using layout tools such as K-Layout
- Supporting reliability testing and compliance activities
- Producing clear technical documentation, lot reports, and contributing to intellectual property capture
- Training test operators and supporting safe working practices within the test area
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with engineers who have experience in a test, product, or manufacturing engineering environment, ideally within electronics, semiconductors, or a related high-technology industry. You will ideally bring:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Experience generating and analysing electrical test data within a manufacturing or test environment
- Hands-on experience with manual and/or automated test systems
- The ability to work closely with process or manufacturing engineers to resolve technical issues
- A structured, analytical approach with strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the confidence to work across teams and with customers
- Familiarity with layout tools (e.g. K-Layout) and GDS files would be advantageous but is not essential
Why Join?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing wafer fab at an exciting stage of its development. You’ll have real ownership, exposure to technically challenging products, and the chance to shape how test engineering is implemented as the business scales. If you enjoy hands-on engineering, problem-solving with data, and working close to manufacturing rather than behind a desk all day, this role will suit you well.
