Our client is a growing engineering and manufacturing business that has recently secured a number of significant new contracts. As a result, they are looking to appoint a Technical Operator to join their team in a varied and hands-on role supporting quality, stores and shipping activities. This position would suit someone with a mechanical engineering, manufacturing, production or machining background who enjoys working with engineered components and has experience using precision measuring equipment.
This is a varied position where no two days are the same. You will play an important role in ensuring components meet specification while also supporting wider operational activities across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspecting components against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Using verniers, micrometers and other measuring equipment to verify dimensions.
- Recording inspection results and maintaining quality documentation.
- Identifying and reporting non-conforming components.
- Booking in and locating stock using the company's ERP/MRP system.
- Preparing components for shipment via road, air and sea freight.
- Completing shipping and dispatch documentation.
- Supporting housekeeping, organisation and 5S activities throughout the workshop.
About You
We are open to candidates from a variety of engineering and manufacturing backgrounds. You may currently work as a:
- Technical Operator
- Manufacturing Technician
- Production Operator
- CNC Machinist
- Mechanical Inspector
- Quality Inspector
- Workshop Technician
- Engineering Technician
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers or height gauges.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- A willingness to learn and take ownership of quality-related activities.
Previous quality control experience would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided for the right individual.
