Your Role And What You'll Be Doing
As a Paralegal, you’ll support Solicitors with their caseloads from the very beginning, giving you the chance to gain real, hands‑on experience in a law firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Take instructions from clients and assist with providing legal advice, including gathering evidence and supporting litigation where appropriate.
- Achieve time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working.
- Attend and contribute to team/practice area meetings, complying with directions and decisions to achieve team objectives.
- Keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice, attending training events to maintain legal knowledge and best practice.
Essential Criteria
- A demonstrable interest in pursuing a legal career within Asbestos and Occupational Disease work.
- Holds a law degree.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to show empathy and compassion when supporting clients through sensitive and often challenging circumstances.
- Confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to handle telephone calls professionally and provide clear, courteous advice.
- A positive, proactive and can‑do attitude, with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared caseloads.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
Desirable criteria
- Previous Paralegal experience within Personal Injury law.
- Exposure to or understanding of Asbestos-related or Occupational Disease claims.
- Experience handling client interactions in a legal or professional services environment.
