About the role

We’re a national law firm with a local reach and a dedicated serious injury team in our Newcastle office. This team specialises in pursuing high‑value and complex cases involving serious brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, serious orthopaedic injuries and fatal collisions. Our clients often face extraordinary circumstances, and our work aims to secure substantial compensation to help them rebuild their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Work on complex, high‑value cases, including obtaining documents, medical and other evidence, instructing counsel and assisting with other litigation tasks.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes for seriously injured clients.
  • Achieve time‑recording and fee‑income targets to ensure profitable work.
  • Work to deadlines and comply with directions or decisions made.
  • Review records and compile bundles.
  • Attend meetings and take notes.
  • Keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice and attend appropriate training events to maintain up‑to‑date legal knowledge and best practice.
  • Deliver exceptional client service, operating with integrity, empathy and intuition, and build rapport with clients and their families.
  • Thrive in a pressurised environment and work collaboratively and independently.
  • Commit to an office environment in accordance with client and business needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous paralegal experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Experience in serious injury work is not essential.
  • Excellent client care and interpersonal skills.
  • Ambition and enthusiasm for serious injury litigation.
  • A friendly, enthusiastic, can‑do approach.
  • Highly organised.
