Responsibilities
- Advise on a broad range of contentious construction and engineering matters as part of a partner-led team
- Provide pragmatic, commercial dispute avoidance strategies to manage risk
- Support negotiations, mediations and other non-adversarial dispute resolution
- Advise on disputes involving delays, disruptions, defects, payment issues, professional negligence, and claims
- Assist with adjudications, litigation, domestic and international arbitrations, and other dispute resolution processes
- Work directly with clients, technical experts and colleagues to deliver integrated advice
- Contribute to business development and build long-term relationships with developers, contractors, consultants, funders and occupiers
- Take on early responsibility with support from senior colleagues in a collaborative national team
Key requirements
- 1–3 years’ PQE
- Experience in construction, engineering and infrastructure work, primarily contentious, with optional exposure to international arbitration
- Strong drafting, analytical and technical skills for complex contractual issues
- Commercial, client-focused mindset and comfort in high-value, fast-moving environments
- Ability to manage matters autonomously while collaborating with a team
- Proactive approach to developing client relationships and supporting business development
- Interest in construction and engineering sector and related regulatory pressures
