Your Role and What You’ll Be Doing
The Cloud Solution Architect is key to delivering the firm’s cloud transformation strategy, focusing on Azure solutions. This role involves designing and optimising cloud platforms to support business growth, migrating legacy systems, and ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure. Collaborating with both technical and business teams, the cloud solution architect will drive innovation, promote best practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory and governance standards.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions meet strategic goals and deliver business value.
- Design and document robust Azure cloud solutions for both new and legacy systems, integrating with existing platforms and adhering to best practices and compliance standards.
- Lead cloud migration initiatives, ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient transitions from on-premises to Azure.
- Develop technical documentation and architectural diagrams to clearly communicate solution designs to development teams and stakeholders, supporting smooth delivery and knowledge sharing.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and frameworks, balancing innovation, cost-effectiveness, and future scalability to best serve firm and client needs.
- Create prototypes and proof of concepts to validate solution feasibility and support informed decision-making.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Oversee solution delivery, ensuring implementation aligns with architectural designs, quality standards, and agreed timelines.
- Identify and manage risks, developing mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory standards in all cloud solutions and throughout the migration process.
- Drive cost optimisation in cloud solutions through resource management and the application of best practice.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Azure technologies and industry trends, introducing innovative solutions that improve business operations and strengthen competitive edge.
- Measure and report on solution effectiveness, stakeholder satisfaction, and project outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience); relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF, or ITIL are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience designing and assuring complex solution architectures in Azure cloud environments, including migrations of business-critical applications.
- Strong understanding of Azure services across compute, storage, networking, and security, as well as proficiency in Azure application and integration services.
- Demonstrable experience in developing architectural standards, patterns, and technical documentation, with a focus on reuse, quality, and clarity.
- Proven ability to identify, assess, and articulate architectural trade-offs, risks, and opportunities to support decision-making.
- Track record of delivering scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-optimised cloud solutions aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into technical solutions and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experienced in managing stakeholder relationships within professional services.
- Up-to-date knowledge of cloud industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Experience and knowledge of SQL are desirable.
- Experience of innovative uses of generative AI tools for role efficiency is desirable.
