Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

The Costs Team provides a service to our fee earners who deal with the recovery of costs in contentious practice areas. Their primary aim is dealing with the preparation of bills of costs, negotiation and advocacy within the detailed assessment of costs proceedings. Our Costs structure gives our costs lawyers an unrivalled breadth of experience including areas of law as diverse as personal injury, commercial litigation, family cases and Court of Protection. Working as a Costs Paralegal, you'll provide invaluable key case support to both Law Costs Draftsmen as well as Administrators. This is a hybrid role, working out of our Sheffield office location.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare schedules of costs
  • Prepare bundles and e‐file documents with Courts
  • Deal with Court Fee remission enquiries and procedures
  • Deal with relevant case correspondence – compose letters on case handler's request, respond independently to correspondence including chase‐up letters, acknowledgement letters etc., ensure appropriate enclosures attached to letters; instructions to counsel

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing schedules of costs
  • Experience preparing Court bundles
  • Confidence to work with different stakeholders and client base
  • Experience using Excel, Adobe and case management systems
