We are seeking a Costs Draftsman/Lawyer to join our Court of Protection costs team in Sheffield. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to be part of a growing national team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing Bills of Costs for Detailed/Provisional Assessment
- Litigating bills through the Court process
- Possibly engaging in advocacy at Court as needed and as agreed with the Costs Partner
- Interacting with clients, providing advice and instructions throughout cases
- Supporting fee earners technically
- Assisting in training junior team members
About You
- Minimum two yearsβ experience in costs drafting, either in-house or with an external provider
- Basic knowledge of legal procedures
- Proven IT skills and familiarity with time recording procedures
- Ability to manage caseloads and deadlines with attention to detail
- Flexible approach to respond to changing priorities
- Excellent communication skills and professional telephone manner
- Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Legal or financial qualifications such as ACL or ILEX Part 1 Year 1
- Experience in legal departments, preferably with COP experience
