Role overview

Your Role and What You\’ll Be Doing

We are looking for a Trainee Costs Draftsman to join our Court of Protection/Public Law & Human Rights costs team in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a growing national team. You will deal with solicitors’ files across a range of disciplines and prepare costs claims for submission to opposing solicitors or the courts. You’ll have the chance to work on negotiations with opponents and have Client contact. You may be required to undertake additional training and encouraged to study for professional Law Costs qualifications. Ideally, you’ll have experience working either in house or for an external supplier of costs drafting services.

About You

  • An analytical approach to data and numerically orientated
  • Experience either in house or for an external supplier of costs drafting (but there is scope to look outside of this).
  • Open to undertaking additional training for professional Law Costs qualifications.
  • A flexible approach enabling you to respond to rapid changes in working schedules and priorities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders across the business.
  • Desirable financial or legal qualifications e.g.: CILEX Part 1 Year 1
  • Desirable financial or law degree
