Your Role and What You Be Doing
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support our client-facing accounts team, working closely with the Associate Accountant. You will assist in preparing small company accounts and corporation tax returns while providing essential bookkeeping and administrative support. This role is ideal for someone currently studying AAT and looking to build their experience within an accountancy practice. This is an onsite role, working 5 days in our Chichester office location.
What You ll Be Doing:
- Bookkeeping - recording and tracking financial transactions
- Payroll processing - ensuring all payrolls are completed accurately and on time
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns
- Assisting with small company accounts and corporation tax returns, with support from senior team members
- Preparing financial accounts to trial balance
- Completing checks to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Providing general accounting and administrative support to the team
- Handling client communications and queries
About You
What We re Looking For:
- Ideally currently studying AAT (part qualified) or AAT qualified - this is a minimum requirement.
- Experience working within an accountancy practice
- The ability to prepare accounting records to trial balance
- Experience preparing financial accounts
- Strong track record of meeting deadlines
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident communicating with colleagues at all levels
- Able to work independently and recognise when to escalate issues
- Willingness to work on-site in Chichester five days a week for supervision and development
- Interest in developing skills in personal tax returns (full training provided)
