Our client, a private Day Nursery and Preschool located in Sidcup, is seeking to recruit a Nursery Practitioner Level 3 to join their team.
Responsible to: Head of Director, Manager, Deputy Manager, Senior Room Leader, and Room Leader.
Purpose of the job: To work as a key worker and as part of the nursery team under the direction of the Management team to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children.
Hours: 40 hour week over 4 days (10 hour days).
Main Duties
- Assist with the planning of the Early Years Foundation Stage and ensure that systems of observation and record keeping of key children occurs so that children\βs attainment and progress are effectively and regularly assessed; monitor the effectiveness of assessment procedures.
- Help set up the playroom for the daily programme and tidy away at the end of the session.
- Act as a key worker to a small group of children, liaise closely with parents/carers and ensure each child\βs needs are recognised and met, and feed this back to parents at the end of the session and three times per year at parents\β evening.
- Advise the Room Leader of any concerns e.g. over children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
- Teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
- Attend staff meetings and inβservice training courses and meetings as required.
- Keep confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
- Maintain security and health and safety aspects of the nursery according to Health and Safety policy.
- Work within the required standards, ratios, conditions of registration and EYFS Statutory Framework.
- Adhere to Policies and Procedures and comply with the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
- Ensure that the nursery offers an environment that reflects the cultural diversity of all children.
- Support the whole of the team including work experience students and volunteers in developing and maintaining links within the local community to create a positive nursery profile.
- Ensure close supervision of children during meal times and adhere to the allergy and dietary requirements of all children within the nursery; ensure close supervision when medication is administered according to the medication policy.
- Follow procedures for the positive management of behaviour.
- Step up into the role of responsible person if the Room Leader is absent (management will clarify).
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the nursery management, in accordance with the nursery\βs business plan/objectives.
