Irwin and Colton are delighted to be partnering with the University of Bristol to recruit an Interim Director of Health, Safety and Wellbeing for an initial 12-month contract.
This is a key senior role providing strong leadership and assurance during a period of change. The successful candidate will ensure the organisation\’s health, safety and wellbeing framework continues to support a safe, compliant and positive environment for staff, students and visitors.
Responsibilities of the Interim Director of Health, Safety and Wellbeing will include:
- Lead and manage a central team of health, safety and wellbeing specialists.
- Act as the organisation\’s senior competent person under UK health and safety legislation.
- Oversee the review and development of governance, policies and management systems.
- Provide clear expert advice to senior leaders and the wider organisation.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships quickly across varied departments and stakeholder groups, promoting a positive safety culture.
The successful Interim Director of Health, Safety and Wellbeing will have:
- Significant senior health and safety leadership experience in a large, complex organisation, experience in education or a similar environment is desirable.
- Diploma-level health and safety qualification (or equivalent).
- Excellent knowledge of UK health and safety law and governance.
- Strong leadership skills with a collaborative working style.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
