Irwin and Colton are delighted to be engaged on an exciting opportunity to recruit a Health and Safety Director for one of the UK\’s largest infrastructure projects. This landmark civil engineering programme is delivering one of Europe\’s most intricate large-scale projects.
The successful candidate will lead a large Health and Safety team and report directly to the board, combining strategic leadership with hands-on involvement across an extensive network of live sites.
Responsibilities for the Health and Safety Director will include: Lead the Health, Safety and Wellbeing function, setting strategy and direction for a large, multi-disciplinary team
Work closely with the board, clients and regulators to ensure compliance and build strong stakeholder relationships
Oversee tunnelling and project delivery, embedding best practice and driving continuous improvement
Monitor and report performance against KPIs, providing clear recommendations at senior level
Support digital innovation, wellbeing initiatives and a positive safety culture across the programme
The successful Health and Safety Director candidate will have:
Senior leadership experience within major civil engineering or large infrastructure projects
Track record of leading and developing large safety teams Hold relevant health and safety qualifications, including Chartered Membership of IOSH (or equivalent).
Excellent stakeholder management skills at senior and board level
Strong balance of strategic and operational leadership
