We're supporting a prominent waste management organisation to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and maintaining the company's safety strategy, fostering a positive safety culture, and ensuring full legislative compliance. This role will oversee multiple sites across the Cumbria region and comes at an exciting time of investment and growth for the business. While direct waste industry experience isn't essential, a strong passion for driving cultural change and a proactive, forward-thinking approach are key.
Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Manager will include:
- Supporting and collaborating with management teams to deliver Health and Safety initiatives and best practices
- Conducting internal audits, inspections and site visits to monitor safety performance
- Leading investigations of incidents and near-misses, and supporting corrective actions and ongoing improvements
- Managing the Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001), ensuring up-to-date policies, procedures and statutory inspections are maintained
- Promoting a proactive safety culture, encouraging open reporting and continuous learning
The successful Health and Safety Manager will have:
- Health and Safety experience within a relevant industry such as waste, recycling, manufacturing or a wider industrial/process driven sector
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and management systems, with the ability to influence and build relationships across teams
- NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum, additional qualifications beneficial
