Are you an experienced Safety, Health and Environment professional with a strong background in a major hazard environment? Do you have experience leading Safety, Health and Environment strategy, managing complex risk, and driving safety and environmental excellence across an operational site? Irwin and Colton are seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Environment Manager to join the Leadership Team of a major industrial organisation at its South Wales site. This is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction across safety, health, environment, process safety and security, ensuring the site operates safely, sustainably and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across Safety, Health, Environment and Security, acting as the site's lead authority and trusted advisor to senior leaders and operational teams.
  • Own and continuously improve the site's SHE management systems, ensuring alignment with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and corporate standards, while supporting compliance with COMAH requirements.
  • Develop and deliver the site's SHE strategy, driving continuous improvement in safety culture, governance, environmental performance and major hazard risk management.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, emergency services and external stakeholders, while leading emergency preparedness, resilience and crisis management activities.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing SHE and Security team, while supporting capital projects, operational improvements and organisational change through effective risk management.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced SHE leader with a background in a major hazard industry such as chemicals, metals, mining/extraction, energy, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, or another COMAH-regulated environment.
  • Degree qualified in a science, engineering, environmental or related discipline, with a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent higher-level SHE qualification and relevant environmental qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience operating within a COMAH-regulated or major hazard environment, with a strong understanding of process safety and major hazard risk management.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing teams, influencing at a strategic level and engaging effectively with regulators and external stakeholders.
