Irwin and Colton have been engaged by a major principal contractor to recruit a Health and Safety Lead on a single-site data centre project in London. The organisation is a leading Principal Contractor, delivering some of the UK's most recognised and complex developments. They have an excellent track record in health and safety performance, and this role is critical in ensuring those standards are not only maintained but continually enhanced.
The Health and Safety Lead will be responsible for:
- Planning and embedding health and safety throughout the full lifecycle of the development, identifying upcoming challenges and ensuring robust solutions are in place
- Maintaining a strong site presence, supporting, advising and coaching contractors to enable the effective delivery of the health and safety strategy
- Leading and developing a Health and Safety team
- Managing incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures
- Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and sharing best practice across the wider organisation
The successful Health and Safety Lead will have:
- Proven leadership experience in a similar role within construction, civil engineering or a related sector
- A strong track record of influencing, engaging and coaching both senior leadership and site-based teams
- Ideally a Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent)
- Experience implementing progressive occupational health, wellbeing and behavioural safety programmes
This position will require an individual who is passionate about health and safety and high performance.
