We're working with a leading steel fabrication business to recruit an experienced Interim Senior Health & Safety Manager for their high-risk, fast-paced manufacturing site in Kent. This is a key interim role during a critical phase of site development and process change. The successful candidate will take a hands-on lead in strengthening health and safety performance, culture, and compliance across complex fabrication and heavy industrial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day health and safety activity across a large, high-volume steel fabrication facility
- Support the development and rollout of improved safety procedures, risk assessments, and SOPs
- Drive engagement across shopfloor and senior teams to embed a proactive H&S culture
- Conduct audits, investigations, and identify improvement opportunities across plant, people, and process
- Provide mentoring to junior team members and operational leaders
- Ensure full compliance with UK H&S legislation and industry best practices
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a heavy industrial or fabrication/manufacturing environment
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (CMIOSH preferred)
- Strong understanding of machinery safety, permit-to-work systems, and workshop risk
- Practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to influence at all levels
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, hands-on production setting
