Salary: Up to £21.30 Per hour depending on experience

About the Role: As a Technician within the Facilities function, you will embrace working as a team and have a strong will to succeed. You will undertake responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance of production machinery within all Production areas of the facility including the Letchworth site together with the upkeep of the site and buildings by reacting to general Maintenance requests while complying with Legislation and any other ad-hoc requests defined by the Facilities Manager.

Maintenance Technician Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supporting daily Production within all Production areas
  • Attending machine Breakdowns to ensure minimum downtime
  • Liaising with Department heads, Production Operatives & Contractors to ensure minimum disruption
  • General site maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure work is carried out in compliance within HSE requirements
  • Carry out routine/planned maintenance - TPM
  • Cover front of site Security gate when required
  • Facility tasks as requested by Facilities Manager
  • A key holder and availability for call out in the event of an emergency outside of working hours
  • Other admin duties as requested by the Facilities Manager

Maintenance Technician Requirements:

Essential skills:

  • Time served mechanical/electrical background within a metals machining environment
  • IT literate using Microsoft office
  • Good general communication and interpersonal skills, Effective Communicator
  • Miscellaneous admin duties. Needs to be IT literate.
  • Carry out routine preventative maintenance inspections and maintain records of the production equipment
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Liaise with external contractors/suppliers to identify and overcome problems.
  • Experience of buildings maintenance and general repairs
  • An understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • A basic understanding of what is required to comply with Environmental Legislation

Advantageous skills and experience:

  • 18th Edition Electrical certificate
  • NEBOSH General certificate
  • Fork Truck licence
  • Knowledge of working within the heavy Textiles sewing industry would be advantageous

Other considerations:

Must be willing to travel to our other site in Letchworth.
