Irvinestown Credit Union Ltd, established in 1971, is one of the oldest and most successful credit unions in Northern Ireland. Led by a volunteer Board of Directors, it currently employs five staff on either a full-time or part-time basis. The Credit Union operates in the highly competitive personal savings and loan marketplace, offering services to its members based on the mutuality model. The credit movement generally is experiencing a period of considerable change and Irvinestown Credit Union is seeking to be one of the Credit Unions at the forefront of that change.
Summary of Role:
- Reporting to the Board, the Manager will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations and staffing of a busy office, including credit control function
- Leadership and motivation of full-time and part-time staff
- Overseeing the preparation of financial and management accounts
- Responsible for risk management
- Implementing Board policies and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Administering computer systems and financial controls
- Assisting the Chairman and the Board of Directors in the performance of their duties
- Interfacing with service providers, industry bodies and other credit unions
The successful candidate will meet the following essential criteria:
- A relevant third level qualification or minimum of five years credit union or other financial institution experience
- Experience of leading staff development and demonstrable managerial experience in a financial setting
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and people management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- A high level of ICT literacy and excellent proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Ability to work on own initiative to deliver agreed targets
Desirable criteria:
- Membership of a recognised accountancy body (ACCA, ICAI, CIMA or CPA)
- A minimum of ten years credit union or other financial institution experience
- Demonstrable experience in implementation of IT customer focused systems
The position is a full-time permanent role, a probationary period of 6 months will apply. Remuneration of £40,000 which will reflect the knowledge, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Canvassing will disqualify. The Credit Union is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
